La Vanguardia: the world’s first coffee grown in a continental climate

The first coffee plantation in the world outside of a tropical or subtropical climate is in Sant Vicenç de Torelló, in the Osona region (Barcelona). Castellvilar is the project of two coffee enthusiasts, Joan Giráldez and Eva Prat, a sentimental and working couple who decided to go ahead with an initiative that is progressing slowly but surely and which will give rise – says Giráldez – “to a gourmet coffee, “very high quality, as it comes from the best plants and has all the nuances that the climate brings”.
